Tradition

UCA has a rich tradition of excellence that spans over a century. Founded in 1907 as Arkansas State Normal School, it became Arkansas State Teachers College in 1924, then State College of Arkansas in 1967, before finally becoming the University of Central Arkansas in 1975. Today UCA is the second-largest university in Arkansas, with about 13,000 students and growing. UCA Athletics

UCA teams compete at the highest level of collegiate athletics as proud members of the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. Honors College

In 1982, UCA established one of the first Honors Colleges in the nation, and the UCA Honors College continues to lead the field by providing enhanced educational opportunities in a living/learning environment designed to develop citizen scholars. With an average ACT score of 31, UCA Honors College students benefit from an interdisciplinary studies curriculum that emphasizes scholarship, leadership and engagement, preparing them for active involvement in civic life and public service that draws upon the skills they acquired at UCA. Student involvement in campus life is ingrained in the culture at UCA. 831 named UCA Presidential Scholars

UCA

The University of Central Arkansas today announced the names of 831 students who qualified for the undergraduate Presidential Scholars List based on their academic performance during the Spring 2009 semester.

"Qualifying as a UCA Presidential Scholar is a remarkable achievement, because it requires a perfect grade point average," said UCA Provost Lance Grahn. "We are proud that so many UCA students are performing at such a high level, and that is a testament to their hard work and the supportive learning environment on campus."

1,309 named to UCA Dean's List

The University of Central Arkansas today announced the names of 1,309 students who qualified for the undergraduate Dean's List based on their academic performance during the Spring 2009 semester.
